Amberton University -- Any comments on this school?
Amberton University -- Any comments on this school? -- Posted by Alex on 06-17-04 07:21
Hi all,
I requested information from Amberton University in Garland, Tx, and
it arrived this morning. After reviewing the student handbook and
website again, this looks like it offers much of what I'm wanting.
They offer the same classes both online and in the classroom, so the
degrees are traditional (BA, BBA, and BS instead of BAAS). One of my
main concerns is getting a BAAS from a college and potential employers
being ofset by the fact that it's an online degree.
Can someone give feedback on the undergraduate program of Amberton?
The cost is about $200/hour, which is twice as A&M-Commerce and other
Texas schools. I wouldn't mind spending this for a full BS or BA over
a BAAS, but I'd love some feedback on the school in general.
Thanks for any information or suggestions, and take care,
Sam

Very well regarded in Texas where people are familiar with it.
Mainly adult education oriented, jr and sr year. Regionally accredited.
Decades ago it was the Dallas branch of Abilene Christian University
before they became a separate entity. It is a non-denominational
Christian school and will probably require some Bible courses.

Hi...
I've heard several folks say 'Regionally Accredited', so does this
mean a degree from Amberton won't be looked at very highly if I were
to move to say New York or California? Outside of that, it does look
like a good school. I received their handbook with classes and degree
plan not long ago, and some classes are rather odd, but very well
rounded.
Thanks for the feedback..

'Regionally Accredited' is top-of-the-line accreditation in the U.S.
If any other school you're looking at is not regionally accredited,
be very cautious.
Lots of information about accreditation:

Good luck on your search.
