amcas question

amcas question -- Posted by dandelion on 07-21-03 00:15

Hello all ,

I have a perplexing question to do with the amcas application form . I am
asked to submit the high school ( year and place ) at which I graduated .
The problem is , I did not graduate at the high school but at a community
college ( after doing the equivalency exam ) and went on to receive top
honors at my local State baccalaureate campus ( taking me 5 years in
total ) . What should I submit as the "high school" at which I graduated
from in amcas ? Any help appreciated .

There's probably a form on the application where you can write
"EQUIVALENCY EXAM," "BY CERTIFICATE," or "NOT APPLICABLE."

Alternately, you can write the high school that you did your
coursework at or the high school that is affiliated with the community
college.

Most of the continuing education high school do have a name and are
generally called PHOENIX high schools (for fresh start---as you Harry
Potter fans will note, the phoenix is a bird that dies and is reborn
from its own ashes. These Phoenix high schools represent a new
beginning/fresh start for the rejoining dropouts that make up the bulk
of their students). No offense or implication aimed at the previous
poster.
