Follow The Women - Industry Trend or Event - Brief Article

Industry Standard, The - November 13, 2000

The latest trend in "transplacement" -- job search assistance for individuals who move to follow a transferred spouse partner - represents another dramatic workplace shift. Transferred women are now leading their spouses to a new city; for decades it was almost exclusively the other way around. "As more women move up the corporate ladder, they are increasingly viewed as the best person for the job and are more likely to be transferred as they advance their careers," says John A. Challenger, CEO of outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. Of the 13.8 million female breadwinners with a spouse, 14 percent moved between March 1998 and March 1999 (according to the Census Bureau). Among the 41 million male breadwinners with a spouse, just 10.5 percent moved. This shift can be partly attributed to women outpacing men in earning college degrees and some graduate degrees, based on Census Bureau and Department of Education reports.

I see doctors are showing their true colors, no longer hiding behind a facade of humanitarianism and refusing to treat trial attorneys! Time to throw away the hypocrisy oath, ha,ha. Maybe lawyers and others should start witholding services from doctors, tit for tat. Too bad for all those di... (Read More)
