Need lesson plans? They're ready for you on the Net!

With your home computer, you can mine the riches of the Internet for teaching materials - including an abundance of lesson plans and classroom resources. Here's how to get started.
GET ON THE NET!
In order to visit these sites from your home computer, you'll need a modem, access to a phone line, and an Internet Service Provider. The provider could be your local school district or county, a commercial Internet provider such as Earthlink or SmartLink, or an online service such as America Online. The rate is under $20 per month. Ask your technology coordinator for advice.
FAVORITE LESSON-PLAN SITES
Once you have access to the Net, check out the sites listed in the box below. These are my favorites because they are well maintained (not riddled with nonworking links or out-of-date information), and because they are easy to use and designed with teachers in mind.
Remember that the Internet is a fluid medium; while these addresses were working as I wrote this column, some may have changed by the time you read it. If that's the case, use a search engine like Yahoo! to search for the name of the site.
