WALLINGFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2002
- Innovative Application Will Capture Educational Content For Distribution to Classrooms, Dorm Rooms, University TV Network and the
Internet For Remote Viewing By Distributed Audiences in University
Consortium -
VBrick Systems, Inc. a leader in low-cost DVD-quality video networking appliances, and TBS Network Intelligence, a leading provider of technology solutions for computer infrastructure needs based in New Jersey, announced today that TBS has successfully deployed VBrick network video appliances to enable the Cape May Technical School District to conduct live broadcasts of lectures, virtual field trips, scientific experiments and homebound instruction over the existing county-wide video network.
The versatile VBricks, will be used for distance learning in support of Cape May School's extensive outreach programs with statewide educational institutions including the Garden State Distance Learning Consortium. Garden State will be providing video content through the associations of schools in their learning network. With VBrick's video solutions, educators and students in one classroom can simultaneously view television quality video from other locations in the school's comprehensive video system. This overcomes the challenges associated with earlier forms of distance learning and video conferencing and produces a vital sense of "continual presence," ensuring that everyone involved in a class or event feels like they are in the same place at once. The system also enables students to take part in electronic fieldtrips and can broadcast satellite feeds of educational programs or live events including science experiments and lectures.
"We are constantly looking for ways to expand our digital communications to provide our students with the most robust and innovative learning experience," said John Castaldi, technology coordinator with the Cape May County Schools. "VBrick has been delivering quality products in this industry for a long time and by providing us with the functionality to deliver high quality, live broadcasts via our existing video network, they are helping us to meet a previously unattainable educational need."
"This is another great example of the benefits that educational institutions can realize with our flexible, robust and reliable network video appliances," said Fred Geyer, VBrick's chief executive officer. "The Cape May County Schools comprehensive video system is an intelligent investment in technology demonstrating a positive impact on the learning environment. We are pleased to be part of their innovative program to bring the benefits of video technology to students, faculty and the community."
VBrick Systems offers a family of powerful yet affordable video networking products for use across a wide range of applications including distance learning, security and monitoring, corporate communications and video conferencing. In addition to MPEG video network appliances like the VBrick 6200, VBrick Systems also offers complete turnkey Streaming Distribution Systems, Video-On-Demand, and software applications like StreamPlayerII and StreamPump, as well as a wide range of accessories.
"We have found VBrick network video appliances to be a perfect match for this type of distance learning application," said Ken Bennett, president of TBS Network Intelligence. "By enabling educational institutions to bring video to every corner of the campus and beyond, VBrick technology is enhancing distance learning programs worldwide."
