SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1999--
ONE TOUCH Systems, Inc., the world's leading provider of end-to-end interactive distance learning (IDL) solutions, debuted two new distance learning broadcast studios today at its San Jose headquarters, during its annual users group conference, OTUG99.
Both full-production studios will be used for originating classes to, and for, ONE TOUCH customers. The new studios complement the high-end services provided by the existing ONE TOUCH broadcast studio in Atlanta and are designed to the optimal model for IDL instruction.
In addition to meeting to exchange new industry information and best practices in distance learning, OTUG99 attendees will tour the new broadcast facilities, which include two studios and a control room. Studio Two is set up for learning broadcasts to students' desktops using ONE TOUCH's Front Row(TM) desktop IDL solution.
Studio One, which supports both the ONE TOUCH Keypad Classroom or Front Row solutions, features two standard cameras, a document camera, telestrator, character generator/titler, two SVHS tape decks, and a DVD player. An instructor can conduct fully interactive classes from either studio alone or with the aid of a technician in the control room. Planned future expansion includes incorporation of digital effects and editing capabilities. The control room will serve as a virtual hub with connectivity to any satellite or internet hub in the U.S.
The San Jose studios will originate learning broadcasts for ONE TOUCH's new IDL content services, which will provide courses from the Apollo Group and other parties. This new content business reflects the ongoing partnership between ONE TOUCH Systems, Hughes Network Systems, and the Apollo Group.
OTUG99 attendees include many of ONE TOUCH Systems' current roster of distance learning users -- Ford, General Motors, JCPenney, Pfizer, American Express, KPMG, the U.S. Social Security Administration, and Walgreens. Using the ONE TOUCH IDL solution, these enterprises can reach and train any number of geographically dispersed employees, at multiple remote locations.
Students -- who can be located throughout the world -- see and hear their instructor on a classroom TV or PC. They can interact both through real-time conversation and by pressing the ONE TOUCH Response Keypad or a PC mouse to answer questions and quizzes or query the instructor.
