CyberCE, Inc Organized to Bring Distance Learning Concept to the Healthcare Industry

Business Wire - July 10, 2000

Business/Technology Editors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2000

Business Concept Is Based on the Success of Using

Centra 99 at the University of Tennessee

A new company called CyberCE, Inc., has been formed to compete aggressively in the healthcare distance learning market segment. The company's primary focus will be online healthcare knowledge sharing delivered using the latest in live Internet-based eLearning and collaboration technology from Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA).

The genesis for the company grew out of a successful Physicians Executive MBA program established at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville three years ago. One key element to the success of the program was their ability to attract MBA candidates from around the country by providing weekly classes on the Internet using Centra's voice-enabled, highly interactive eLearning application. Today, Centra 99 delivers live collaboration and continuous learning to any Web browser. It allows students, wherever they are located, to use the Internet or intranets to participate and collaborate in live, instructor-led group coursework. Also, it enables colleges and universities to replicate a dialog-based classroom to deliver critical peer-to-peer collaboration where class members can learn from experts and each other by verbally discussing issues and sharing their diverse experiences and opinions.

Dr. Don Lighter, President & CEO of CyberCE and several members of the board and management staff are involved in this program and its success. Lighter comments, "Professionals are all under tremendous pressure these days to keep abreast with a huge information base, more stringent performance criteria and less time to secure continuing education and knowledge sharing. The PEMBA program at UT has convinced us that live distance learning initiatives using technology from Centra holds tremendous potential for not only delivering information but doing it in a way that creates an effective learning environment."

In addition to the healthcare learning system, CyberCE will also offer a product adapted to the needs of managing a widely distributed sales organization.
