May 8, 2000
VCampus Corporation (Nasdaq: VCMP) announced Monday that Global Crossing, Ltd. (Nasdaq:GBLX), which is building and offering services over the world's first global fiber optic network, will use the VCampus web-based learning platform to train their technical staff located in offices throughout North America.
Global Crossing recently purchased Frontier Communications, a long-time user of VCampus' Teletutor CD-ROM telecommunications training courses.
Global Crossing plans to use the VCampus as a cornerstone for its new employee technical orientation program as well as ongoing education for its existing employees.
In addition to offering VCampus' web-based Teletutor courses, Global Crossing will offer Microsoft Office titles from the VCampus Courseware Construction Set to create online courses using its own proprietary content customized for their own business requirements.
The Global Crossing VCampus was designed, created and operational within two weeks. It was rolled out to Global Crossing employees in February 2000, and is linked as an extension of the Global Crossing Web site graphical interface.
Global Crossing selected the VCampus e-Learning platform because of its Learning Management System, its course authoring tool and its quality telecommunications course content.
"As a leading provider of telecommunication services, Global Crossing is pleased to partner with VCampus in delivering this Next Generation training method to our employees," said Dennis Banks, Global Crossing's vice-president of Technical Training and Administration. "Our Global Crossing VCampus, which serves as an integral part of our new technical training program, enables us to efficiently deliver our distance learning curriculum to our North American personnel. Our employees are now able to receive the latest in telecommunications training right at their desks."
Nat Kannan, chairman and CEO of VCampus said, "Global Crossing is one of the major players in the emerging global telecom arena and we are happy to serve their e-learning needs. It is another endorsement of the VCampus platform. We look forward to porting their mission-critical course content to online format and delivering it worldwide to their employees."
VCampus Corporation (Nasdaq: VCMP) is a leading e-Learning Application Service Provider (ASP) that develops, manages and hosts turn-key, web-based learning environments for corporations, academic institutions and government agencies, enabling those organizations to offer global distance learning solutions to their customers, employees and students.
In addition to training and education, the VCampus platform can be employed for a number of enterprise-wide knowledge management initiatives including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and product-related strategic business plans. VCampus' e-Learning solution helps clients improve the performance of their distribution channels, measure and develop their employees' knowledge, skills, and abilities, and increase their customers' satisfaction and loyalty.
VCampus distributes a courseware library of more than 1,100 web-based courses and had delivered more than 439,000 courses to over 250,000 adult learners as of the end of December 1999.
