Fiber Optics Business - November 15, 2000

Optelecom announced that the city of Irvine, CA, has selected its new PixelStream product as part of an ongoing program to modernize the city's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). PixelStream will be deployed to deliver traffic video from selected intersections to the Intelligent Traffic Research Analysis Center (ITRAC) for monitoring and analysis. Terms of the first phase of the contract were not disclosed.

The PixelStream line of digital fiber optic transmission products provide broadcast quality video with flexible audio and data transmission options over multimode or single-mode optical fiber. The PixelStream product family expands Optelecom's existing line of PFM video and data transmission systems. The new products incorporate the Pixel Vue network management system software architecture, providing PC-based system management and maintenance functions. The product line is expected to find use in broadcast transmission, multimedia, distance learning, security, telemedicine, and traffic applications.
