From the universities of Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, California, and Florida to the private colleges found in small-town America, Mascot Network's On-Line Student Center is the preferred campus portal across the country.
Mascot Network has signed 101 institutions of higher learning for its On-Line Student Center. New schools getting ready to launch now include Winona State University, Williamette University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Maryville University, King College, and Nicholas College, among others.
Janet Brown, director of student activities at Nicholas College, a four-year business school in Dudley, MA, said, "Nicholas often struggles to find ways to effectively reach our students with information we feel is critical to them. When I viewed the Mascot demonstration for the first time, I was immediately struck with the potential it offered to our college. I also found the service extremely easy to use and visually appealing."
In addition to being preferred by more school administrators than any other portal for the reasons articulated by Brown, Mascot's On-Line Student Center has also been recognized by the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA) for its technical excellence. The On-Line Student Center was selected by SIIA judges as a 2001 Codie Award Finalist for "Best Education Administrative Product."
Mascot Network supplies college students, professors, and administrators with a gateway to Web-enabled campus information, student-focused discounted products and services, and distance learning. With a personalized start page and on-line student directory, Mascot has developed a "virtual" student center for each school where all of a school's constituents can meet, coordinate, and collaborate. Its accessible, interactive, and dynamic portal solution helps institutions attract and retain students, and build loyalty and a sense of community. The Online Student Center promotes the sharing of common interests and ideas beyond the boundaries of geography, resources, and time. With Mascot, new students assimilate more easily, while current students and faculty stay informed and involved. Mascot's services enable administrators to convey key information to targeted audiences and generate feedback to help them better meet the needs of their constituents. It is an administrative tool that saves college personnel tim e and money.
Among the most popular features of Mascot's Online Student Center are its:
- On-line student directory with student pictures and optional personal information, which gives students an easy and unique way to find friends and to connect with classmates;
- Student groups and common interests sections from which students receive the current campus-specific information about on-campus organizations, as well as have the ability to create password-protected sections for official group members only;
- Student Deals section where students can save money on all the essentials for life and school.
